SERVICE JOY (POEM)

I was honored to be asked to share poems to encourage participation in the goals and mission of Globalizm. I asked myself, “what makes us care about each other in this world?” My answer: “when we remember our humanity and that we are more alike than different, we will care.” When we forget this commonality, we become sidetracked with the details of our busy lives – it’s human nature! However, I believe the smallest gestures of kindness will right our paths.

I hope my poem, “Service Joy” reflects our desire to care about each other as well as our human frailty and ability to “look away”.  If you like this, please also check out my other poem Life Entwined.

Service Joy

Joy in service

is the greatest love

for those whose arms

open wide and whose

steps are quick

for those in need.

With backs grown strong

to lift the weight

of those grown weak,

on doorsteps near,

or steppes afar.

Some hear the service call,

but, judge not those

who hear nothing at all.

Place a flower at their feet

and hope the fragrance

of petals therein

fills their minds with fields of blooms

of service joy.
