Are you a Globalite?!
|Are you a Globalite? Find out by answering these simple questions:
Q1 Do you often think about the world at large and feel motivated to make it a better place?
Q2 Do you strive to be the change you wish to see in the world?
Q3 Do you strive to make conscious choices, be it food, clothing or activities, to ensure that your choices do not harm other living beings and the environment?
Q4 Do you strive to explore your highest potential and be the best you can be in this lifetime?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the questions above, congratulations, you are a Globalite!
Globalites are individuals who effect change by living with awareness, making conscious choices and by simply being the best they can be. Globalites are so busy being better versions of themselves that they have no interest in engaging in activities that would drain their energy and take their focus away from making constructive progress. Globalites don’t wait for the world to change, Globalites know that they are the change, that Globalizm is an inside job.

Thanks for introducing me to this site.
Thank you Mike! Would love for you to share your Peace Garden project and other wonderful things you are doing!
You don’t realise what you’ve started!
Many years ago I proposed a Peace Garden in Portsmouth, my home town on the south coast of the United Kingdom. Recently I felt that I should remind the city councillors of the project, hoping that one or two of them may think a little more about it, particularly if they see what has happened in the world since that initial idea I had. This is a copy of the letter I wrote.
Dear Councillor,
Some Councillors may remember that I proposed a Peace Garden close to John Pounds Coimmunity Centre in Queen Street some years ago.
Gunwharf had been built, and it was clear that day visitors were not visiting the city centre.
One of my objectives was to provide a focal point of interest to visitors- something to visit, where they could also stop for a sit down and refreshment in the new John Pounds Cafe, while walking up to Commercial Road.
The existing green area, which had a public telephone, but was otherwise rather abandoned, has, since I drew attention to the area, been tidied up a little.
Unfortunately money offered by a local charity was not used and there seemed to be little inclination to provide this worthwhile facility, either for visitors or for the local Portsmouth people.
Perhaps, with all the wars and killings that have been happening in various parts of the world, several at the instigation of powerful Western armed forces,it is becoming clear that such wars do irreperable harm to all involved.
Stated objectives are rarely reached. We are in a worldwide recession caused by our monentary system, burdened by huge military expenditure. Billions of pounds are spent and millions of peoples lives are wasted in producing more and more lethal weapons which are sold worldwide as well as huge armies whichn have been clearly seen to do much more harm than originally envisaged.
In this atmosphere, I feel that the local people, and councillors perhaps, will be inclined to look for alternatives.
I have found these interesting projects in various countries that are harnessing the hopes and dreams of ordinary people worldwide.
Please take a while to look at some of these. Please share them with others, including family and children.
Perhaps from these, a few people will be motivated to do something constructive in this area of Portsmouth. I look forward to something starting during my 80th. year, perhaps. It is a project that can be added to and improved year on year.
There are some delightful ideas here. Please ensure that important people in the city start to discuss what can be done in this location.
Best wishes,
Mike Maybury

This might be the first Peace Garden in the world, aqnd the largest:

There are quite a variety here:
//peace.maripo.com/p_gardens.htm
This group seems to be based on permaculture:
//www.worldpeacegardensnet.org/about.htm
Thie organisation seems very sound and organised:

and this:

Here is something:

This garden seems long established, but in need of care and attention. Think what just .01% of the military budget would do!

This is interesting, from some progressive Freemasons:
//peacegardensecrets.com/international-peace-garden-designed-by-freemasons/
This is a recent initiative that seems to have some funding and a worldwide plan:
//bonnieplants.com/2011/09/promoting-peace-gardens-around-the-world/
Another: started in 1952:

Started in the NE of the UK, these seem to be modest plans for local communities in deprived areas:

These rose gardens devoted to peace appear to be sound:

Clearly a sound reaction to the 9/11 event:

A sound project from one of the rare genuine peaceful Christian organisations:
//www.afsc.org/resource/friends-peace-garden
A genuine attempt to turn the horror of waging war to a sustainable peaceful way:

Can you share these with others?
Peace will never come from war preparations.
Your constructive ideas on these projects and what could happen will be appreciated.
Ten years ago I prepared pages of details and campaigned in Portsmouth.
This is one of the published articles in Gandhitopia:

These followed:

A University in the US sent this information:

Hope you can do something with these.
I’ve only just noted that someone started a Facebook Group and a few keen people joined.
People could contribute their ideas to either that or Gandhitopia, or anywhere else they like.
Each of us is the centre of our universe!
Best wishes,
P.S. I took an evening finding these links- if you’re keen on the idea you could take even longer!
